Menu bar Let us take a look at the Menu bar (pic
2.1). It has different menu items like
File, Edit, View and so on. Click on the File menu and a
drop down menu will appear. You will find in it that the options
are New, open, brows, save and so on. New is used
to open a new file, open is used to open an existing file.
Save is used to save a file, Click on browse and you
can see that the whole directory or folder will show up. You can
see all of the items of a particular folder. Edit menu has
different items like copy, paste and so on. You can copy
and paste different items. So look in all the menu items and play
around and find out how the different items work. As we go along
we will learn more about it.

Now Look at the different icons of theMenu
bar (pic 2.1). You can use those icons
also to open a new file or save it or open any existing files. It
has an undo icon to undo or cancel the previous move. It also has
copy and paste icons as well as icons that you can open different
palettes from directly. When you keep your curser on these icons
it describes the feature.
How to open New File?
Now go to menu bar
and click on theicon
New or click on File and then on New
(pic 2.2). A New image box will appear (pic 2.3).
File -New - New image box.
Now in the New image box the settings should
be like this. (Just an example) width - 400
Pixels (You can change the width according to your need) Height -
400 Pixels (You can keep the desired height) Resolution
- 72.000 Background color -
You can choose any color, it has white, black, transparent and so
on. You can also choose foreground and background color of your
color palette. I kept white. See (pic
2.4). Image type
- 16.7 million colors (24 bit).
Now click on ok.
You will get the new image file (pic 2.4). I kept
the background color as white that's why my image is white. It does
not show the actual size. But your image will be quite big. Try
it and see how it works.
This image is our work area where we can fill different colors and
can make different images. As we go along we will learn more about
it.
How to Open existing File or image?

How to Save New File or image?
Click on image and the blue title bar should appear. It shows
that this image is active (see pic 2.4) . Now on menu bar click
on save icon to save or click on File - save or save as.
When a dialog box appears click on the c: drive option and make
a new folder called psp7. Now click on save to save it clicking
this link.Click on this link in order to see the steps in detail.
It shows how to save an image. Saving new file also uses almost
the same method.

Color Palette:
Look at picture 2.5 because it shows the color palette.
On the top it shows two small boxes. The green color box is Foreground
solid color and the grey color box is background solid color.
You can use the Color palette to choose different colors like gradient,
texture and solid color. Click the left mouse button to choose foreground
color and the right mouse button to choose background color.
Below Foreground and background solid color it shows available
colors. You can chose any color by the color picker tool (dropper)
(pic 2.5). It has different styles
and textures to choose from. You can chose to keep it as active
or keep it as locked.
You will find two color panels underneath the available colors.
You can choose from these boxes solid colors, texture, pattern,
and gradients.
Layer Palette:
This tool is used to make images in different layers.
