Basic Tutorial (How
to use psp 7)
Lesson 4

Making New image:
In this lesson we will learn to create
new image. This lesson will teach you how to make different shapes
and how to fill different colors in it.
Note: The
verticle tool bar will not work if there is no new image in psp
window. So first open the new file.

Open the new image with white background.
Click on new icon on Menu bar or click on File - New (See
how) |

To activate this tool click on selection
button of verticle tool bar then release mouse button go to new white
image. (Note: you need not to drag the selection tool). |

or new image. Now Keep curser in one corner hold the left mouse button
and drag it. See (pic3.3
) It is done by rectangal selection button, marching ants shows
the selected are. |

(You can choose only
one tool at a time from verticle tool bar.) Now you have the rectangular
marching ant in white image. |

Now again click (left mouse button) on
flood fill tool from verticle tool bar.
Click on white image with marching ant with left mouse button. If
it does not work it means you need to change the settings of color
palette. |

You can see two boxes in Style (underneath
color palette). (pic 4.1) . Keep blue
color in upper box that is foreground color. and red color in lower
box of style that is background color. |

How to choose color? -
if Style's foreground or background color is locked click on arrow
of style - (pic 4.1)
- a drop down menu will appear (keep your curser and it will show
you whether it is solid, gradient, patern or null.)
- click on solid now place your curser on available color (the big
box with different colors) and choose blue with the help of dropper
(curser will automatically become dropper). (see
pic)
- Now the same way chose red color in lower box
of style. |

Now click on flood fill tool (from
verticle tool bar) if it is not already selected. Now place curser
on white image with marching ant. |

Click with left mouse button and rectangle
will become blue. (pic 4.2) |

Now undo it by going in menu bar. Go to
Edit - Undo. Or click on undo icon. You could again see the same old
white rectangle with marching ant. (Undo is used to cancel the previous
move). |

Click with right mouse button and
rectangle will become red. (pic 4.3)
That's how you can fill either foreground color
or background color.
How to remove selection (marching ant)
- Click on selection tool then place curser
on image with marching ant and right click with mouse button.
Now you can save image if you want to.

We've learnt how to
use rectangle selection tool.
You can create Ellips, circle and many other shapes by selecting different
options in Tool options (Pic
3.2). Try different options and see how it
works. Process is the same as above.
# For selecting different shape (click on) tool options.
# Now click on selection type and choose Ellips.
# Now place the curser on new image and drag. |

Note: For
practice Either open the new file each time or undo the previous action
by menu bar. So you can practice on the same image over and over again. |

Color balance dialog box:
You can get color balance dialog box by clicking
on Foreground, background color boxes or style box. In
this box you have color wheel, basic colors and so on. You can choose
any color

from this box.
To choose color use your curser or dropper. Click on style or foreground,
background color box and this dialog box will open up.
You can make your own new color with the help of red, green and blue
color combination. It shows HTML color code also for web desinging
use. |
